How to Apply
Current UIUC Students
Speech Communication is a department in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS). Students should go directly to the LAS office.
If you are already in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and are changing from General Curriculum or another major, you need to inform LAS (270 Lincoln Hall) of your intention to major in SPCM. If you are double majoring, you need to wait until your junior year to declare your second major. If SPCM is not your primary major, that should not prevent you from coming to see us in Academic Advising where we will assist you in locating the appropriate classes for your academic interests and schedule.
If you are switching from another college on campus, you need to go to the
LAS office for application information. Please go to
http://www.las.uiuc.edu/students/admission/ for application information.
Please print and fill out this information sheet (PDF) and bring it to Academic Advising in 308 Lincoln Hall.
Prospective Students (incoming freshmen and transfer students)
SPCM is a department in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS), thus to apply you first must be admitted into the college. To apply, go to the Office of Admission and Records. Upon acceptance, you may declare SPCM as your major by informing the LAS (270 Lincoln Hall).
